The Ark Encounter is owned and operated by Answers in Genesis (AiG). Phase one of the ‘life-sized’ historically themed attraction cost R1.4 Billion ($100m USD).
The Ark is based on the dimensions recorded in the Bible (Genesis 6) and was designed in accordance with sound established nautical engineering practices of the biblical era.
The park presents, in an entertaining, educational, and immersive way, a number of historical events surrounding an immense 155 meter (510 foot) long Ark as its centerpiece – and was build without any tax payer dollars. Additional future phases for the attraction include a Walled City, the Tower of Babel, a first-century Middle Eastern village, a journey in history from Abraham to the parting of the Red Sea, a walk-through aviary, and more.
This new attraction, within a one-day drive of almost two-thirds of America’s population, is positioned to become a destination that will capture the world’s attention, with an estimated yearly attendance of at least 1.4 million visitors, up to 2.2 million.
The park opened on July 7, 2016, and is located in Kentucky, USA nearby its sister attraction, the Creation Museum.
