The Impeach the Leech – Zuma Must Fall movement is calling on all South Africans to unite in peaceful silent protests across the country, every Friday until President Jacob Zuma is impeached by the National Assembly.
The movement is asking for protesters to create anti-Zuma placards and protest peacefully at their place of work or home, in groups of no more than 10 every Friday between 12PM and 2PM. Participants should also, “wear a black sash, armband or ribbon around your left arm while protesting as a sign of mourning for our country”
A two-thirds majority of the National Assembly is needed to impeach Zuma. The previous impeachment vote on 5 April 2016 failed, after Members of Parliament (MPs) voted on the motion to impeach Zuma, with 143 voting in favour of the motion and 233 members voting against the motion to remove Zuma.
