Eskom Tariff Increase Comparison: 2010 to 2016

South Africa’s power market is regulated and dominated by Eskom, which sell electricity directly to end-users and wholesale to municipalities, which in turn sell to end-users.

The price of electricity in South Africa has more than doubled over the past 6 years. The highest annual percentage increase of 31.3%, came into effect over 2009/2010 annual increase period.

Latest Tariff Increase

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) has approved an overall average annual price increase of 9.4% for the 2016/17 financial year and further as follows;
