Hawks Arrest ISIS Terrorist Suspects
Johannesburg – Lengthy investigations by the Hawks and State Security into possible terror related activities in the Johannesburg area, have culminated in the apprehension of four suspects aged between 20 and 24 years old on Sunday – Police spokesman Hangwani Mulaudzi said in a statement to News24.
He said the National Intervention Unit, the bomb squad and other law enforcement agencies aided in the arrests. The Hawks swooped on the suspects’ locations, seizing several items for analysis, Hangwani added.
The four suspects were identified after having attempted traveling to Syria in 2015. “Investigations showed they intended to join terrorist group Isis,” Hangwani told News24.
